One thing that Marc and I had in common was a love for backcountry skiing. In 2005, we had a great time exploring Donner Pass on fresh powder. Marc also loved to camp in the snow. We had a great overnight adventure on Mt. Rose back in college--I remember that the temperature dropped to zero degrees Fahrenheit at night. Marc had tried to get me to join ski trips to backcountry huts for the last several years, and at least one more was planned for 2008. I regret that I wasn't able to join him one more time. -Dave L
